Elegant simplicity: this is one way to describe the incredibly beautiful winter wedding we helped Beata & Billy create last August as they celebrated their union with their nearest and dearest. The pair were winners of a competition we ran to provide a coordination package to one bridal couple! Although they were based in Gauteng, we liaised seamlessly with them and their Cape Town relatives.
Laurent at Lourensford, Somerset West was the beautiful backdrop for this chic occasion and the winter's day weather was perfect, with no backup plans needing to be called upon. The bride opted for greenery instead of colourful floral designs, which complemented the white on white colour palette and all guests were asked to dress in black which added to the classic look and feel of the day. Ambiance of the reception was created by elegant lounge pockets where guests mingled and delighted in the company of the bridal couple, friends and family. And as the sun set over the horizon, the evening was illuminated by the glow of candles, fairy light curtains and naked bulbs, creating an atmosphere of relaxed charm. Although the venue was rather big, a wonderfully intimate, warm and personalised space was created and enjoyed by all.
The bride and groom did not feel any pressure to include the regular traditions in their wedding and created a day tailor-made to suit them as individuals and as a couple. They did not have a wedding party other than the bride's sister as maid of honour and a best friend as unofficial bridesmaid. Neither did they have a wedding cake but, after visiting Warwick Wines some time before and hearing the story of the Wedding Cup (double-sided cup), they decided to adopt this unique ritual instead. The wedding favours, a bag of freshly ground coffee from the estates' roasters, also served as place settings to guide guests to their seats at the long tables where meals were shared in celebration.
We loved seeing the plans come together for this event and we feel like the lucky winners to have been able to help Beata & Billy on their special day.
