John and Anita were a playful, relaxed and easy going couple and their wedding day needed to celebrate their love for each other and the joy of their union. We had only a month with them to plan their special day and it was all via correspondence as they live in the UK. However, in collaboration, we managed to pull it together in the most beautiful way.
The Winery Road Forest between Stellenbosch and Somerset West in the Western Cape served as the perfect backdrop for their wedding day, with its natural beauty, raw textures and whimsical atmosphere. The ceremony was held under the trees on a lovely late summer's afternoon and pre-drinks were enjoyed on the great lawn area. In the reception hall we only needed to add a few personal touches by means of flowers, table decor and warm candle light to create a look and feel that was simple, rustic, elegant and charming.
Anita is South African and John Scottish, and their guests hailed from around the world. He wore a kilt and thistle - the national flower of Scotland, in recognition of his heritage. The evening celebrations kicked off with “Springbokkie” shooters, of South African heritage, followed by planned speeches which brought the room to life as the group shared roars of laughter and tears of joy. The band and DJ, created a party atmosphere that kept guests dancing and cheering until they needed to kick their shoes off and beyond.
Family, friends, laughter and love: these are the gifts of life, and John and Anita's wedding day was a reflection and celebration of this in a wonderful way, all gorgeously captured by Kikitography.
